places to eat in paris:
le relais de l'entrecote: 10 rue st benoit, 6e...only place to go for steak and frites!

merci: 111 boulevard beaumarchais, 11e...great place for lunch. small restaurant with food displayed on the counter. amazing salad plates and desserts are incredible!!! homewares and clothes areas are on the ground and first floor. think orson and blake+fratelli fresh+yellow

mamie gateaux: 66 rue cherche midi, 6e...very french and very tiny. perfect for lunch! menu is always the same. 3 quiches served with salad. very fresh and the pastry is to die for!!! deserts are visible on the counter and they are sooooo delicious! try the hot chocolate...it comes in a bowl with baby madeleines! yummmm

le 404: 69 rue gravilliers, 3e...connected to the andy wahloo bar (amazing cocktails! very cool atmosphere) restaurant is fabulous for lovers of moroccan food. the outdoor terrace is perfect for warm summer nights too. you can hire out the upstairs area for parties of 8.

rose bakery cafe: 30 rue debellyme, 3e...a very tiny cafe that is run by english people. the set up is like yellow bistro in potts point. food is very simple and really delicious. bread is AMAZING!!! (but isnt all french bread?!?!)

chez janou: 2 rue roger verlhomme, 3e...food is incredible. very simple french "provence" style. the deco is also very "southern french". huge selection of pastis (if that's your thing). the chocolate mousse is a MUST have...it comes out in this big ceramic bowl and you are handed a ladle...bon ap!

a la petite chaise: 36 rue grenelle, 7e...paris' oldest restaurant. very cosy place on winter nights. their onion soup is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! main dishes are really lovely too...try the herb crusted lamb rack. desserts are great too. wine selection is really nice!!!

I think given your love for food, and good food - but additionally good customer service - you ened to head to the U.S. - perhaps NYC, Chicago or Washington DC for some good food AND service! :) at hopefully more affordable prices too.
