THE NAPPY ‘CAKE’ 1
March 19, 2013
A few weeks ago I went to a baby shower where another guest, called Jess, brought along a Nappy ‘cake.’ I was SO impressed by the look of this gift that I decided that I too must attend a baby shower and bring along a Nappy ‘cake’ as a gift! I had completely forgotten that I had a shower the following weekend AND the one after that too! I ended up making ‘cakes’ for both showers and I think I will continue to do so until I get sick of them!
You’ll need a billion nappies, some cake tins of varying sizes (each tin represents a layer in your cake, so depending on how many layers you want, you will need that number of tins), some string, some ribbon to decorate, some dummies/bottles/rattles to decorate and some clear cellophane!
The pictures below will describe the method better than me, so I will make my written description brief. If you have any questions / want clarification on anything, Facebook / tweet / email me or leave a comment below!
Basically what you need to do is pack in as many nappies per cake tin as you can, in a circular overlapping fashion. Once you have done this for all your tins, you tie string firmly around the outside, make a knot and flip the ‘cake’ out. You then tie your decorative ribbon with a bow on each cake, simply place them one on top of the other, add dummies and other small gifts to top layer and wrap it all up in the cellophane!
And if you’re wondering why I am posting baby shower gifts here on PHOODIE, well it is a CAKE after all!
Hope you guys enjoy!
