PHOODIE’S HUNDREDS + THOUSANDS BISCUITS 4
July 3, 2014
For as long as I can remember, I have been seeking comfort via the consumption of Arnott’s Hundreds and Thousands bikkies.
I am not sure EXACTLY how long it is that they have been around, but as soon as I buy a packet, whack ’em open and see that ‘perfectly pink’ shade of pink (sorry, but there is no other way to describe it!) and those fairy-like speckles of colour, in the form of 00’s and 000’s, I feel 5 again. Happy, free and full of wonder!
I decided it would be fun to bang some homemade ones together with my mini-me #1 and mini-me #2! Below is the result!
They are REALLY easy to make and we had so much fun along the way – and the best part? The pleasure just went on and on as we demolished them by the dozen! (OK, maybe not LITERALLY by the dozen, but let’s be honest, who could stop at 1?)
INGREDIENTS /METHOD – Biscuits (Makes about 60 small cookies)

INGREDIENTS / METHOD – Icing
To make 1 cup icing: (Make sure to read all the notes below before you begin!)
1) Combine 2 cups of Icing Sugar in a bowl with 2 – 4 tablespoons of warm water and a few drops of red food colour.
2) Once happy with the colour and consistency, coat each biscuit with icing and then sprinkle with hundreds and thousands. Place on a wire rack or bench to set.
Note: the amount of icing you will need depends on 1) the size of your biscuits 2) how much you put on each biscuit. You may need more or less than the 1 cup specified.
Note #2: DON’T ADD THE WATER ALL IN THE ONE GO – add some water slowly and stir – add more water slowly to reach the desired consistency for your icing. Everyone has different preferences about what the perfect consistency is. I like mine to be the consistency of toothpaste.
Note #3: to achieve the perfect pink, add the food colour DROP BY DROP and stir. Just keep adding until you are happy but make sure to stir thoroughly before adding more!
Note#4: there are many ways to skin a cat and many ways to ice these biscuits! You can use a teaspoon, you can fill a bottle (like the one pictured below) with icing and squirt-away or you can ‘dunk’ (as per the snaps below. Dunking is my favourite method as I feel you get the most even cookie-coverage!)

I LOVE these! Remind me of arnotts tick tocks. So cute!
Arnott’s hundreds and thousands were the inspiration! :)
I made these today and they turned out great! They were so fun to make, and they are sosososo adorably cute too! I’m from New Zealand so 100s and 1000s were my childhood go-to treats, and now I can have them even when I’m studying abroad in London! Thanks so much for sharing this! x
Hooray! Thanks for your lovely comment – am so glad you loved them!
