Fishworks – Marylebone High Street, London 0

July 21, 2009

Been twice.

Wouldn’t BOLT back.

No doubt fish is very fresh and very well cooked but the whole ‘experience’ is just a little ….well….NOT that I guess….. i.e. not an ‘experience’…..it’s very much a casual, decent meal at an affordable price but not much more. In fact, we took some cousins there from O/S and although the food was definitely fiiiiiiine….there are so many other fun, better than just fine, places to go. They were staying in the area and wanted a low-key dinner but…..in hindsight, I am sure I could have found something a little more special…

They do an amazing Skate in black butter and capers dish which in itself is reason to go, but apart from that, the sea bream, mussels, calamari, salads, fries etc were all quite ordinary – I shouldn’t be so harsh – they definitely weren’t baaaaad, but blah, just nothing to comment on you know.

If you and ya husbie or wife or partner or mother or next-door neighbours gardener want a good, solid, mid-week piece-a-fish and you don’t feel like stinking out your home, go there.

The End….for now.
