HOMEMADE FERRERO’S – CRUNCHY CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT BALLS
Ingredients
5 cups Hazelnut Wafer Biscuits – crushed
300g Hazelnuts, peeled and chopped
400g Chocolate Hazelnut spread
300g Milk and/or Dark Chocolate (I use 100g Milk and 200g Dark)
Method
Crush the Hazelnut Biscuits into a bowl
Add the chopped Hazelnuts
Add in the Chocolate Hazelnut spread
Chuck both hands in the bowl and totally combine all ingredients
Lick fingers clean, then wash hands!
Stick mixture in fridge to firm up – 30 mins!?
Remove mixture from fridge and roll into balls – about 80% the size of a golfball
Place balls onto a lined tray and then back in fridge – another 30 minutes or until firm
Melt chocolate on stove – not in microwave and not on high heat!
Dip each ball into cooled, melted chocolate, ensuring FULLLLLL coverage over ball
Place back on tray and into fridge to set
Sample one….or three…
Plate up nicely
Deliver to deserving family member or friend – in my case Cuz Z! Inspiring Mumma of 3 beautiful girls :) M, G and Bubba H.

Zomg! I am literally drooling all over the screen!
Ahaha! Me too!….and def worth the calories – although as I said, eating them on a weekend makes them “fat free”! :)
Hi, Just came across your amazing blog. Thanks for sharing this with the world.
Could you please tell me what brand the hazelnut wafers are, and where to buy them from? I live in Brisbane QLD so hopefully I will be able to find them here.
Thanks again,
Angela
Hi Angela,
Thanks for your comment! I am going to the store where I bought them this afternoon so I will tell you exactly what the brand is when I return! You will DEFINITELY be able to get them or something TOTALLY similar in Brissy :)
Thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to help.
Regards
Angela
Hey Angela,
The ones I used are made by a company called MANNER – here’s a link to a site where you can get them – http://www.germandeli.com/073621497054.html
Alternatively, I saw similar ones by BALOCCO – they look like this -http://www.amazon.com/Balocco-Nocciola-Hazelnut-Wafer-Bits/dp/B0001H233E
So if you see anything on a shelf that looks like these pics – it will definitely turn out the same! :)
Good luck! They are SOOOO yummy!
You are absolutely wonderful!!! I will look everywhere until I find them, and let you know when I get to make them…I am sure they will be worth the search.
Thanks again,
Regards
Angela
Post a pic when you make them! Exciting! :)
hey… im trying to figure out if i can put this as a filling for a cake? two layers of mocha buttercream and one layer of this home mde ferrero mixture. what do u think? will it stay crunchy ? is it spreadable??
Wow! What an excellent Idea….hmmm now let me think….it SHOULD stay crunchy, I would just make sure there was PLENTY of it i.e. a thick layer……to spread, it may require you getting your hands dirty! You can alter the amount of Hazelnut spread to make it easier to smear over the centre of the cakes…… I would use SLIGHTLY more hazelnut spread than the recipe says and, I know it sounds a bit yuk, but I would use my VERY CLEAN hands to ensure an even layer!
wonderful!! thanks for the prompt response phoodie!! thats exactly what i was plannin on doing. either use more nutella to make it more spreadable or use some leftover caramel ganache i have leftover . i was also plannon on adding some caramelised cornflakes instead of the wafers to cut down on some sweetness. =) im thinking it cant go wrong on taste. how can hazelut spread/hazelnuts/chocolate ever go wrong??? =D im ujust wonderin if it ll get soggy sittin inside? guess i ll just have to try it out eh? will def report back after i do it!!
Caramel ganache?! yuuuuummmm!! PLEASE send a link to a picture – would LOVE to see it! :)
