VERRRRRY SCARRRRRY HALLOWEEN TRIPLE FUDGE BROWNIES 0
October 31, 2010
SO Easy yet SO Scary! Ok….well maybe not SO scary…..but scary enough for a Halloween Tea Party!
Easter egg hunts?! Gimme. Santa Claus?! 24/7. Tooth fairy?! $10 per tooth. HALLOWEEN?! HELL YEAH!
My sister isn’t into all of this “American Stuff” (her words, not mine, actually her words are a little harsher than that, but this is a ‘family blog’….). She always says to her sons that when the time comes, (for the egg hunts and the fancy dress parties etc etc) “Aunty Phoodie will do that with you” or “Aunty Phoodie will organise that”!
This is because…..
I *AM* into all of this “American Stuff”, so when the opportunity to bake something FRIGHTENING came around today, I was all for it!
It’s been a crazy few weeks, well months I guess….time just seems to disappear left, right and centre, and so I am always looking for ‘quick and easy ways’ to create yummy and in this case, fun things.
HERE IS A VERY VERY VERY GOOD SECRET TIP – DO NOT SHARE IT – ACTUALLY SHARE IT ALL YOU LIKE. I AM DEFINITELY THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO, WHEN SOMETHING GRAND IS DISCOVERED, DOESN’T KEEP IT TO MYSELF, BUT RATHER SHOUTS IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS E.G. WWW.BOOKDEPOSITORY.CO.UK…..but I digress……back to my secret…… Although my sister has a very swift and easy recipe for amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing Chocolate Brownies, I VERY OFTEN use BETTY CROCKER PACKET MIXES!!!!!!! Why!? You may ask?! BECAUSE THEY TASTE UN-BE-LIEVEABLY BRILLIANT!!!…..and also because it makes the whole process very very very FAST! I always add 300000 kilos of milk, white and dark chocolate chips, and the BC mix requires you to add your own eggs, oil and water too, so there is a LITTLE bit of work involved, but honestly, the NUMERO UNO reason I do use the BC mix (only for brownies) is that they do taste really darn good!
Aaaaaanyway, I knew I wanted to make Brownies as they are fun, everyone loves them, they are simple and they are kind of American, and I felt the need to be American today. HOWEVER, simple, plain Brownies would NOT do the trick today. They needed to be jazzed up, ruffled up, oh well, Halloween’ed up I guess…..so I bought me a pack of mixed plastic finger puppets, some green food colouring and some white chocolate and this is what happenned…….
1) Open up your pack of Halloween finger puppets, play with them and then place them aside…..
2) Buy some Green….or red….or orange…or purple…..food colouring…..
3) Make some Chocolate Brownies (I made the BC ones ofcourse!)….
4) Chop them up into generous sized blocks with a sharp knife so they don’t crumble everywhere!
5) The best brownie is one that is crispy on the top…..
6)….and gooooooey inside!
7) Arrange all of the brownies on the serving plate, that way you don’t have to ‘transfer’ once the puppets are ‘glued’ on!
8) Space them apart evenly……it always looks better this way!
9) Now make your ‘glue’….Melt the white chocolate……
10) Gradually add in your green food colouring to get the exact shade that you want…..
11) Add a dollop of ‘Green Glue’ to the top centre of each brownie……
12) And for the final step…..add the finger puppets!
TRICK OR TREAT?!
