Le Relais de l’Entrecote – Paris, France 0

How lucky were we to stumble upon this place?! Well…..we didn’t reallllllly stumble on it. Husbies had been told a few years back by some friends that there was ”this steak place that’s awesome but you can’t book, near Cafe Lipp in a side street”…..so….. we went wondering……and BANG!

There it was.

Very humble surrounds. Traditionally dressed waitresses, kinda like a French version of an American Diner…..a classic bistro, I guess, but not really……

We sit down at a table for 4, and no joke, within 5 minutes of us sitting down, we look outside and a queue of 30,000 people has formed!!! Ok, not 30,000…..maybe 50 people?! But still!!!!

That queue itself is a testament to the kinda place this is – keepin’ it simple (just like this place does) I will run through what I need to say in bullet point:

– There is no main menu – everyone eats the same thing – Green Salad with Walnut dressing (best ever), Steak (cooked how you like it) with ‘Secret Sauce’ (Very green – must have been some sort of creamed herb mix – Cried from happiness) and French Fries (Like McDonalds – need I say more?)

– The lovely waitresses come around with large silver platters of the steak and of the fries asking if you would like more…..most people have AT LEAST a second go!!

– There IS however a dessert menu – very traditional, but still AMAZZZZZZING – profiteroles, ice cream, pastry etc

An institution and a must-see / must-go-back-and-see. Also located in a few other places!!! Hurrah!
