My brother reckons that this is the best thing he’s ever eaten.

I agree.

So without further ado, I present to you “Crostada di miele e pignoli” – Honey and Pine nut tart!

I cannot take credit for the recipe. Absolutely none. I can’t even take credit for finding it! Credit for finding it goes to a good pal of mine who is always in the know when it comes to what’s hot in the areas of fashion and food! Everybody needs a friend like her! :)

So, click here for the recipe. It comes from (NYC restaurant) Babbo’s pastry chef, Gina DePalma’s cookbook, “Dolce Italiano”.

TOO DELICIOUS TO COMPREHEND, HONESTLY!

ENJOY!

note: It says to serve warm but we all agreed this was actually better out of the fridge!

another note: I cheated and used store bought pastry – was still delicious although I am sure is even MORE delicious if you make it!

[…] this is the best thing he has ever tasted from PHOODIE. My brother is torn between this and the Honey and Pine Nut tart. And me!? I think this is FOR SURE in my top 5! The Nutella cheesecake that I normally make is […]

Phoodie this looks incredible! I adore pine nuts so I think I’ll have to make it! Two questions:
1. No toasting the pine nuts? I feel like untoasted pine nuts are just…wrong. But maybe they sorta toast in the oven?
2. Rude and random question but — this must be like thirty or forty bucks worth of pine nuts, easily! Was it expensive to make?

Anyway, it looks incredible. And yours looks better than the original! Love your work.

It is seriously SOOOOOOOO damn delicious!

Ok, I thought the exact same thing re toasting them but nup, you def don’t toast them!

Re: $$ – yup, it really is an expensive one to make – can’t remember how much exactly but definitely not one of the cheapest recipes on this blog – but SO worth it… I only ever do it for really special occasions now! :)

Let me know how you go!

Oh Phoodie, I was just at Costco today and picked up a gigantic bag of pinenuts for about $10 in readiness to make this tart (perhaps over the long weekend?)

Just a question, how sweet is it, honestly? Like is it baklava sweet? Toothachingly sweet? Or do the nuts go some way in making it less so? Do you reckon a bit of icecream on the side would be in order?

Hey! Yup, to be honest, it TOTALLY is. It is super sweet. Pecan Pie sweet. But that’s kinda what I love about it. Ice cream on the side is perfect and would cut it a bit but still, if sweet sweet isn’t your thang, this prob won’t be:( :( :( Although, sweet sweet isn’t TYPICALLY my brothers favourite and he loved it. I think if you cut small slices, everyone loves it!
